Gaizka Mendieta es un exfutbolista español. Durante sus años activos, se desempeñó como mediocampista y fue varias veces convocado a la selección, en gran parte, por lo bien que se vio durante su etapa en el Valencia CF. Por otro lado, si bien gracias a su talento fue que pudo llegar tan lejos en el deporte, el apoyo de Carmina Mendieta, su esposa en la actualidad, siempre ha sido de gran importancia para él. Incluso luego del retiro, ella ha seguido a su lado y lo ha apoyado en cada una de sus decisiones dentro de esta nueva etapa.
