Michelle Obama & Barack Obama – Together Since 1989
The Obamas have come so far that very few people remember how their love story began. In 1989, Michelle Robinson was assigned to mentor a promising summer associate at Chicago’s Sidley & Austin law firm, and the associate was none other than Barack Obama. Despite initial reservations, Michelle was charmed by his confidence and intellect.
Their first date included a screening of Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing” and ice cream at Baskin-Robbins, where they shared their first kiss. The couple married in 1992 and have two daughters, Malia and Sasha. Michelle also supported Barack’s political evolution while advancing her initiatives as a First Lady, author, and philanthropist.
