Ob Claus Kleber als Anwalt ebenfalls Millionär geworden wäre? Wir wissen es nicht – jedenfalls war das sein Beruf, bevor er ins Medienfach wechselte und mehrfach ausgezeichneter Journalist und Buchautor wurde. Er war einst zwölf Jahre in Washington stationiert, traf die damals wichtigsten US-Politiker hautnah.
Kleber führte durch insgesamt 2977 Sendungen des ZDF “heute-journals”, legte diesen Posten aber im Dezember 2021 zurück. Seine letzten Worte? “Good night and good luck”!
Mit Geldsorgen setzt sich Kleber jedenfalls nicht zur Ruhe: Er verdiente um die 600.000 Euro im Jahr und soll ein Vermögen von etwa fünf Millionen Euro angehäuft haben.
