Kostenko był żonaty z Polą Raksą, jednak był o nią szalenie zazdrosny. Podczas jej scen miłosnych, artysta zakłócał jej pracę, przez co aktorzy musieli być dłużej na planie. Jednak ironią jest fakt, że to on dopuścił się zdrady. Później para się rozwiodła.
