Nach dem Ende seiner aktiven Laufbahn wurde er Fußballtrainer und scheffelte so weiter Millionen.
Auch als TV-Experte beim Sender Sky verdient er ein gutes Gehalt – und das alles führte dazu, dass er trotz fünf teurer Scheidungen und den Unterhaltszahlungen für seine Kinder immer noch stinkreich ist, und sich um seine finanzielle Zukunft wohl keine Sorgen macht. Matthäus hat immer noch ungefähr 90 Millionen Euro auf dem Konto.
